LEADERSHIP IN PRACTICE AT K-STATE
The addition of a Center for Student Activities (CSA) to the K-State Student Union will provide students with a comprehensive leadership experience in a diverse and progressive learning environment. The concept of a center blends student leaders and participants from over 375 clubs and organizations as well as offers a permanent home, professional advising, meeting room space and leadership resources such as technology and work room areas. The visibility of this structure will increase awareness of opportunities for involvement outside the classroom, which we know will lead to an increased number of students participating in clubs and organizations. The environment within the center like this naturally generates casual and more formal communication among all groups of student leaders. All of our clubs and organizations will be able to work more efficiently and effectively by sharing resources and energy. As a result, students will have more exposure to prominent speakers and opportunities to attend a wide variety of programs and activities. Leadership Development The Center for Student Activities serves as a leadership laboratory for all students, especially those participating in the Leadership Studies program. Prominent speakers and high-caliber programming, combined with hands-on leadership training with professional advisors in a practical environment all contribute to a well-educated leader. Diversity Increased interaction among all student interest groups, awareness of collaborative programming opportunities, and creative new partnerships through shared funds and resources are all results of an effectively diverse learning environment. Technology Access to fully equipped computers is available to registered student organizations 24 hours a day. Cornerstone organizations such as Student Governing Association, Multicultural Student Organization, Office of Student Activities and Services, Union Program Council and Greek Affairs have committees calling the center home. Workroom resources Club and organization members can enjoy support within the facility that includes computers, copiers, printers, fax machines, mailboxes and large project workrooms. CENTER FOR STUDENT ACTIVITIES: NAMING OPPORTUNITIES A gift in support of the Center for Student Activities enhances K-State's recruitment and retention efforts as well as contributes to the quality of life for students outside the classroom. As plans for the center move forward, we hope you will choose to partner with us to further enhance the K-State experience. Thank you for your consideration.
